Lecture and garden tour in Budapest

Today, Takashi visited the Varga Márton Horticultural and Surveying Vocational School in Budapest, the capital of Hungary.

At the school’s training garden, he was guided by Mr Kaszab to see the Japanese garden located within the grounds. This Japanese garden was created over 100 years ago by the school’s founder, Varga Márton. It features a beautifully arranged pond at its centre, along with bridges, stepping stones, and lanterns.

In February, the garden still had a winter appearance, but from spring to autumn, the lush greenery flourishes, bringing it to life. It is said to be very popular among local visitors as well.

After the garden tour, Takashi had the opportunity to introduce his professional experiences in Japan and the UK to a select group of students. He also touched on a recent project collaborating with Mr Yamada, the representative of Hanatoyo Landscape Co., Ltd., on maintenance work at Japanese gardens in Vienna, Austria. Through this introduction, it seemed that the students also developed an interest in the Japanese gardens of neighbouring countries.
