Japán centrum garden update
Construction team on site
Yesterday, Takashi arrived in Szombathely, Hungary, continuing his role of overseeing the construction of the Japanese garden at the Japanese Centre (Japán centrum). During the previous site visit six months earlier, he mainly worked on proposals for the placement of garden stones and the subsequent planting plan. This time, planting work has begun, with a particular focus on the area around the teahouse and the existing buildings; the atmosphere of the garden is gradually starting to take shape!
One of the recent challenges for the project has been sourcing cherry trees. The search for Yamazakura — Japanese mountain cherry trees that would be visually appropriate for a Japanese garden — has been expanded to neighbouring countries. Even with that, the team has only been able to secure one tree so far. The remaining planting work is scheduled to continue next spring, and in the meantime, the search to procure more cherry trees goes on.
